Chinese Lolita Brand Research Methodology

LolitaFetch maintains a research directory connecting Chinese Lolita brand identities, named design releases and current product collections. Historical archive coverage, current trading status and stock are different facts and are recorded separately.
What a record establishes
A catalogue entry shows that a name or release appears in retained research material. It is not, by itself, proof of an independent designer’s identity, an active official shop, authorship, or permission to reuse an image. The evidence register distinguishes existing catalogue references from facts checked against a primary source.
Names, aliases and related organizations
The original Chinese name is retained where it helps identification. English editorial translations are not presented as official names. Similar spellings are not enough to merge two labels. A parent organization, atelier, shop and brand are stored as different relationships rather than bundled into an alias list.
English series titles
A checked official English title takes priority. Otherwise an editorial translation should convey the original meaning and be labelled as editorial when needed. Pinyin is not used as a substitute for translation. If a reliable English title is not yet available, the Chinese original remains visible instead of an invented name.
Research status
“Catalogue entries attached” means structured release records are available, not that every fact has been independently authenticated. “Partial archive record” indicates a smaller attached selection. “Identity or classification review pending” means the record is retained for research but excluded from search indexing and selected style directories.
Sources and uncertainty
Evidence may include official brand materials, storefront references, supplied research documents and retained catalogue records. Source types are distinguished in the research register. Missing founding dates, designers, category labels, current shop status and image permissions stay unconfirmed until supporting evidence is available. A supplied document’s claim that it was checked is not treated as independent verification by LolitaFetch.
Dates and updates
“Database record created” is the original creation date in our store database. It is not a brand’s founding date or a claim about when the page first became public. Directory synchronization dates describe data maintenance, not a fresh verification of every brand. Actual primary-source checks are recorded at the fact level.
Images and external links
Public pages do not link to the third-party staging dataset. Catalogue images are not evidence of permission to reuse them. Image source and usage permission require separate review; missing or unclear imagery must not be replaced with an AI-generated brand image.
Archives and shopping
Archived designs may be discontinued. Current product cards link only to the corresponding brand collection at LolitaFetch. No current products does not mean the brand has closed. Style directories are overlapping research categories, not rankings or blanket descriptions of every release.
Corrections
If a name, attribution or relationship needs correction, use our contact page and include the brand profile URL, the disputed fact and supporting source details. We retain uncertain records for research and do not merge similarly named entities without evidence.
