How to Compare Lolita Brand Size Charts

Compare Lolita brand size charts by measurement type, garment piece and fit range, using live examples from current JSK listings.

Compare Lolita size charts by ignoring the letter label at first. Match the garment type, measurement method and fitted areas, then compare the centimetre values that matter to that design. A brand name or an M label cannot predict fit across every dress. The useful comparison is between the exact charts, construction and pieces included in the listings you are considering.

Start by confirming what each chart measures

Before placing two charts side by side, identify whether each number describes the finished garment, a recommended body measurement or a stretch range. A fixed 84 cm bust and a bust range of 82 to 90 cm are not the same kind of information. The first is one garment measurement. The second may describe an adjustable range, but the listing must explain how that range is achieved.

Use the same unit and the same garment piece. Convert inches to centimetres only once, and keep the original figures in your notes. If a set has a JSK and a blouse, do not compare the blouse bust with another listing's dress bust. Our guide to reading a Lolita size chart explains how to separate body measurements from garment measurements before you shop.

Why the same size label can describe different garments

Two current JSK listings show why the measurement row matters more than the letter. The White Sugar Girl Floral Tremors of Love JSK lists size M with an 82 to 90 cm bust and an 82 cm dress length. The Creamy Black & Blue Gothic JSK lists size M with an 84 cm bust, 68 cm waist and 84 cm length.

This comparison does not prove that either brand runs small or large. It shows that their M rows contain different information. White Sugar Girl gives a bust range but no waist value in this chart. Creamy gives fixed bust and waist figures. To choose between them, you need your body measurements, the room you want in the bodice and an explanation of any elastic or lacing shown on the product page.

The Creamy listing supplies fixed bust, waist and length values for each size, so compare all three columns together.

Compare the fitted area, not every available column

The controlling measurement changes with the garment. A strap JSK may need careful bust, waist and bodice-length checks. An OP adds shoulder, upper arm and sleeve questions. A skirt shifts the focus to the waistband, hip clearance where relevant and total length. Extra columns are useful only when they describe a part of the item you will wear.

Look at construction before treating a maximum figure as a target. Full back shirring, partial shirring, corset lacing and adjustable straps affect different areas. A stretch range at the bust does not automatically add room at a fixed waist seam. Lacing can refine a bodice, but it cannot move the shoulder or armhole. If the listing does not identify the adjustable area, ask rather than assigning the range yourself.

Keep dress and blouse charts separate

The Yueele Botanical Tea Garden set is a useful example because its JSK and blouse have separate charts. The JSK in L lists a 94 to 108 cm bust, 76 to 87 cm waist and 101 cm length. The L blouse lists a 100 cm bust, 40 cm shoulder, 25 cm sleeve and 58 cm length.

Those figures describe two pieces with different jobs. The blouse bust needs to allow movement and sit beneath the JSK. Its shoulder measurement matters even though the sleeveless dress chart does not provide one. Choosing both pieces by the same L label would skip the information that actually controls the layered fit.

The Yueele set uses separate measurements for the JSK and blouse, so each layer needs its own size decision.

If you need extended ranges or products that explicitly offer custom options, use the plus-size and custom-size Lolita collection as a starting point. Open each current listing and verify its chart. A collection label does not replace the product-level measurements.

A repeatable comparison method

  1. Record your current body measurements in centimetres, including the underlayers you plan to wear.
  2. Choose two or three exact listings, not two brand names in the abstract.
  3. Mark each chart as garment measurements, body recommendations or an adjustable range.
  4. Separate the JSK, OP, blouse and skirt charts when a listing contains a set.
  5. Copy the bust, waist, shoulder and length values that control each garment.
  6. Note where the listing shows shirring, lacing or adjustable straps, without assuming that one feature changes the whole bodice.
  7. Compare the measurements with a similar garment you already own, using the same measurement points.
  8. Ask for a missing fixed measurement when it could change the decision.

If no standard row works across the important points, read the comparison of custom size and standard size Lolita dresses. That guide covers the next decision. It does not make a weak standard-size match safer, and a custom option still needs a clear list of measurements the maker will use.

What the chart cannot tell you

A size chart cannot prove fabric weight, comfort, construction quality or how a dress will look on every body. It may also omit the measurement point for length or the unstretched value behind a maximum range. Product photographs can help you locate seams, straps and layers, but they do not replace written dimensions.

Avoid turning one item into a brand rule. Pattern blocks, shirring and grading can change between designs from the same label. Save the chart attached to the exact product and option you order. When the shop updates a listing later, your saved record will still show the evidence used for your choice.

You can compare current Lolita JSK listings once your measurement notes are ready. Read the row, the garment construction and the included pieces together. The letter on the selector is only a route to those details.
